Mary Kom Promotion

Addl SP to SP, 

Rs 50 L to Rs 75 L, 

Raising the rewards it earlier announced for Olympic medallist MC Mary Kom, the State Government has decided to promote the ace boxer to the post of SP (Sports) and the cash reward announced in her name has been increased from Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 75 lakhs.

A decision to this effect was adopted during a Cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister O Ibobi this evening, said Education Minister M Okendro while briefing media persons after the meeting.

Moreover, Mary Kom has been granted three acres of land at Langol. In case, the Mary Kom’s boxing institute is upgraded to a regional institute, it would receive grants from the NEC, he said.

Other Olympians L Bombayla, Ng Soniya and L Devendro would be rewarded with case prize of Rs 25 lakhs each.
